An obstacle pole trolley is a frame on which obstacle poles are stored and transported. Bar trolleys are used to set up and dismantle obstacles in the riding arena or indoor arena by transporting the trolley with the obstacle bars to the desired location.

When do you need a trolley for obstacle poles?

You need a trolley for obstacle poles if you want to transport several poles from one place to another. With a pole trolley, you can easily transport obstacle poles from the barn or another storage area to the riding arena to set up a course or individual obstacles.

A pole trolley is also ideal for storing obstacle poles so that the poles are ready for use the next time a course is set up. A trolley for obstacle poles is helpful if you have to move many obstacle poles over long distances in a riding arena or between riding arenas. A pole trolley saves a lot of time and energy.

What trolleys are available for obstacle poles?

Bar trolley with or without roof

A roof ensures that the obstacle poles on the trolley remain durable.

A pole trolley without a roof is suitable if the trolley and obstacle poles are always stored indoors or in a covered room. A trolley for obstacle poles without a roof is also sufficient if the pole trolley is used exclusively for transporting obstacle poles and not for storing them.

Bar trolley with trailer coupling or standard handle

A pole trolley with trailer coupling is worthwhile if several trolleys are to be driven to the riding arena or indoor arena at the same time and the pole trolleys are transported one behind the other with a towing vehicle. A trailer coupling on the pole trolley is also useful if longer distances are to be travelled between the storage location and the riding arena/riding arena.

Bar trolleys with a standard handle are moved by hand and are suitable when transport distances are short (e.g. within the riding arena or between neighbouring areas). Trolleys for obstacle poles with a standard handle offer greater flexibility and manoeuvrability, as it is easier to manoeuvre by hand in narrow aisles or paths. However, you save time if you do not pull the pole trolley by hand.

Bar trolley with different axles

Bar trolleys are available with different axles, with customers opting for bar trolleys with trailing axles or for bar trolleys with 1 or 2 steering axles. A trolley for obstacle poles with a trailing axle improves driving with the pole trolley through large bends and the trailing axle ensures a smooth, stable position of the load on the pole trolley. 

The steering axles (at the front or at both ends) make it easier to manoeuvre the obstacle bar trolley through narrow aisles or bends. Compared to rigid axles, the turning circle is much smaller and precise steering of the trolley (pulling and pushing) is possible.

How many obstacle poles fit on a pole trolley?

Up to 40, 60, 80 or 120 obstacle poles fit on a pole trolley. The more arms the trolley has for obstacle poles and the longer these arms are, the more poles will fit on the trolley. A pole trolley should not be overloaded so that the poles do not fall off during transport.

If the trolley is mainly used to transport a few obstacle poles, a trolley with a capacity of 40 poles is sufficient. However, if you have around 120 obstacle poles that you want to store and transport on the pole trolley, you should purchase a larger trolley.
