Where do I attach a lick holder for horses?

Lick holders for horses can be fixed either in a corner of the horse box or in the pasture. In the horse box, depending on the lick holder, you can fix this with already existing holes in the holder and screws on the wall, or with a rope in case of free-hanging lick holders.  

Another way to mount the lick holder is in the paddock or simply in the pasture. The best option here is a free-hanging holder or a holder for stake mounting. 

How much do lick holders cost?

Depending on the material, size and brand, lick holders can cost between €4 and €120. It should be noted that a small holder for 2 kg lickstones made of plastic, for example, is cheaper than a large holder for 25 kg lickstones made of stainless steel. Which size you should buy depends on the size of your horse or pony.

What material are lick holders made of?

Lick holders are made of metal, stainless steel or plastic. Lickstones made of metal are galvanised, which makes them very durable. Stainless steel is very weather-resistant, which is why it is suitable for outdoor use. Plastic is very easy to clean and inexpensive.
