Important equipment that you need at shows and other equestrian events is neatly stored in the show locker. A show locker is equipped with pneumatic tyres for optimum mobility. Show lockers are usually made of metal and protect your riding equipment from dust and weather conditions.

A tournament cabinet is very spacious and stable, so that every accessory has its own place in the cabinet. Tournament lockers are available in different sizes and interior designs. At Alfako, we sell tournament lockers in three sizes and a total of 17 different designs in our online shop.

What is a tournament cabinet?

A show locker is a mobile tack locker equipped with 2 to 4 wheels and practical handles on the sides. With a show locker, you have a mobile tack room, which makes it easier to transport riding equipment to shows, competitions or even within the stable.

Show lockers are used to store and transport equipment such as saddles, bridles, halters, blankets and grooming equipment. Show lockers are lockable and can be extended with a top locker, protective tarpaulin or other extras. The larger the horse show locker, the more compartments, drawers and extras there are in the locker. Some tournament locker models have additional features such as a mirror, a locker light, a locking brake or a lockable valuables compartment.

Show lockers have pneumatic tyres and in most cases are fitted with two swivel castors and two fixed castors made of rubber. A competition locker is not limited to use at competitions or on the road, as it also makes everyday life in your own stable easier. With a show cabinet, all accessories can be moved from the tack room to the grooming area.

What material are tournament lockers made of?

Tournament lockers are made of galvanised sheet steel, stainless steel, aluminium or plastic. Metal is best suited for tournament lockers as it is robust, resistant, durable and burglar-proof. Even with daily use of the tournament locker, the metal remains stable and has a high load-bearing capacity.

Aluminium is a lighter material than steel, which is why an aluminium show locker is easier to manoeuvre. Even though steel has a higher dead weight, the swivel castors on the show locker still ensure effortless transport of the riding equipment. Show lockers made of plastic are very light in weight and require little maintenance, but are not as stable as metal show lockers.

Tournament lockers from Alfako

The Alfako show lockers differ primarily in their size. All 17 Alfako show lockers are equipped with saddle holders and one or more pull-out rails with plastic bridle holders. Our show lockers offer sufficient space for all accessories for horse and rider.

The high-quality tournament lockers from Alfako are lockable and are supplied with two keys. Most of our tournament lockers are available in two to three different colours. If required, a top cabinet or a protective tarpaulin can be added for the respective size to protect against dirt, bad weather, scratches and moisture.

Tournament cabinet Mini

The Mini tournament cabinet from Alfako is available in the "Mini" and "Mini Economy" versions. The Mini tournament lockers are 124 cm and 116 cm high, 65 cm wide and 60 cm deep. Our mini tournament lockers have two castors and a handle on the top of the locker for easy transport.

Both versions of the Mini tournament cabinet have two saddle holders and an extendable snaffle holder rail with three plastic snaffle holders. The mini lockers have two rubber wheels with a diameter of 160 or 200 mm. The "Mini" show locker is made of steel or aluminium and has a spacious drawer. The "Mini Economy" tournament cabinet is made of steel and has no drawer. The mini tournament lockers are available in silver, green and blue.

Tournament cabinet Midi

The Midi tournament cabinet is available from Alfako in the "Midi", "Midi Economy", "Midi Economy Inox", "Midi Inox", "Midi Comfort" and "Midi Prestige" versions. The Midi cabinets vary in height between 108.5 cm and 131.5 cm. All Midi tournament cabinets have a width of 117.5 cm and a depth of 60 cm.

Most midi versions of the tournament cabinet have three drawers, the larger tournament cabinets also have a horizontal drawer. Depending on the size, there are two or four handles on the midi tournament cabinets for easy transport. Inside the lockers there are two pull-out show locker rails with a total of six bridle holders.

Each midi tournament cabinet has four wheels, two swivel wheels with parking brakes and two fixed wheels. The wheels of the midi tournament cabinets are pneumatic or made of rubber, depending on the cabinet. The diameter of the tournament cabinet wheels varies between 160 and 200 mm.

The Inox models in the Midi size are made of high-quality stainless steel, which protects against corrosion, is very robust and ensures the longevity of the tournament cabinet. The other Midi tournament lockers are made of steel or aluminium. In the "Midi Comfort" and "Midi Prestige" versions, there is an additional compartment for the equine passport.

Tournament cabinet Maxi

In our Maxi edition of the tournament lockers, we differentiate between 9 variants. We sell the Maxi show locker as "Maxi", "Maxi Economy", "Maxi Comfort", "Maxi Comfort Safe Edition", "Maxi Prestige", "Maxi Plus", "Maxi Plus Western", "Maxi Plus Inox" and "Maxi Inox".

Each of our Maxi show locker models has space for two saddles and, with the exception of "Maxi Plus", is equipped with three bridle holder rails with 12 bridle holders each. All Maxi show lockers have four handles for easy transport and four wheels with a diameter of 250 mm to 260 mm. Maxi, Maxi Plus, Maxi Plus Western, Maxi Plus Inox and Maxi Inox have an integrated mirror inside the cabinet.

Our Maxi tournament lockers are made of steel and the Maxi and Maxi Plus models also offer a choice between steel and aluminium. The height of the Maxi tournament lockers varies between 140.5 cm and 180 cm. All Maxi tournament lockers are 152.5 cm wide and 63 to 80 cm deep.

If you want extra security at tournaments, then it's best to choose the Maxi Comfort Safe Edition. The Maxi Comfort Safe Edition has the same features as the other tournament lockers, but this tournament locker is particularly burglar-proof. The tournament locker is very robust and has thick doors and frames that resemble a safe to optimally protect the equipment from theft.

How much space is there in tournament cabinets?

Show lockers have space for all the equipment needed when travelling. There is room for at least one saddle and several bridles in show lockers, and there is always additional storage space for other equipment. A tack locker always has enough space for everything to be stored sensibly.

Depending on your needs and accessories, you can opt for a small tack locker with space for just one saddle or a large tack locker with space for at least two saddles and several bridles. Depending on its size, a tack locker is equipped with shelves, holders, storage compartments, drawers and hooks to provide the rider with sufficient space for their accessories.

How do you look after a tournament wardrobe?

A show cabinet should be maintained by cleaning it once a week with a clean brush or hand brush. Once a month, you should clear out all the equipment, clean the inside and outside of the tournament cabinet with a mild detergent and a sponge and then leave it to dry completely.

All brackets, drawers and shelves in the tournament cabinet should be checked regularly, the screws tightened if necessary and potential rust spots treated. Dirt should also be regularly removed from the rollers of the tournament cabinet. Ventilate the tournament cabinet periodically to prevent mould from forming in the cabinet.

When buying a tack locker, it is important to choose the right size. The ideal size for the show locker depends on how big your saddle is and how many accessories you want to store. The intended frequency of use is also decisive for the size of the show locker.
