A blanket holder for the stable keeps the tack room or saddle cupboard tidy and organised. Blanket holders make it easier for riders to store their riding equipment such as horse blankets, saddle cloths and saddle pads neatly and tidily. The rug holder is used either exclusively for storing rugs or for drying them.

Ceiling holders are available in different types, colours, sizes, materials and shapes. The position of the ceiling mount is also variable and can be freely selected according to personal preference. When purchasing a ceiling bracket, you can opt for a small bracket (one ceiling) or a large bracket (up to 10 ceilings). 

What types of horse blanket holders are there?

The following list shows the types of blanket holders available for horses.

What has room for on a horse blanket holder?

There is room for all kinds of rugs on a horse rug holder. Saddle rugs, rain or winter rugs, outdoor rugs or sweat rugs. Which blankets you store or dry on it is up to you. The number of blankets you have will ultimately determine the size of the holder you should buy.

Of course, there is also room for other riding equipment on the blanket holder, as storage is not limited to blankets. Gaiters or other riding equipment can also be stored on the blanket holder. These can be dried quickly with a heatable blanket holder, especially when wet.

What material are ceiling brackets made of?

Most blanket holders are made of metal, which is why the holders are water-repellent and robust and can withstand a lot of weight. Thanks to the high stability of the rug holders, you can hang up and safely store even dripping wet rugs after riding. Metal also ensures that the riding rugs are stored in a way that is gentle on the material.

Where are horse blanket holders attached?

Horse blanket holders are attached to the wall in the tack room, inside the saddle cupboard or on the outside of the stall door, for example. Some saddle holders are screwed to the wall, others are simply hung in the stall door. However, there are also ceiling mounts that are set up free-standing in the stable. These have a heavy and firm stand, which is why they do not fall over despite the high load weight.

What do you need to consider when buying a ceiling bracket?

When buying a blanket holder, it is important to choose the right size, the right type, the right material and the right colour. It is also important to consider how many blankets are to be stored, in what location, with how much space and for what purpose.

• Size: The size of the ceiling bracket is decisive for the price of the bracket. If you only want to store one specific blanket directly next to the box, a simple blanket holder bar will suffice. However, if you want to store all the blankets you own on the blanket holder, you will need a large holder with several brackets. 
• Art: Before buying a ceiling bracket, think about what type of bracket you need. If it is important to you that it is heatable, retractable, swivelling or free-hanging, you should decide on the appropriate type of ceiling bracket.
• Material: If the ceiling bracket is only intended for storing a ceiling, it is not absolutely necessary for it to be made of metal. You can also opt for a plastic version, as this is cheaper.
• Colour: If the appearance of the mount is important to you, you should think about the colour of the ceiling mount in advance. Ceiling brackets are available in various colours such as black, silver, blue or green.
• Location: Consider the location where you want to install or set up the ceiling mount. Different locations require different materials and different amounts of space for different types of ceiling brackets.
• Place: Firstly, check how much space you have available for installing and storing the blanket holder and find out the size of the blanket holder you want. If you want a large, heatable blanket holder, make sure you have enough space in the stable.
• Purpose: Think about what the primary purpose of your blanket dryer should be. If you want to use it primarily for drying, you should consider an electronic dryer specifically for horse blankets. If you only want a blanket holder for storage, simple holders are sufficient.
• Addition for the tack locker: If you also need storage for blankets when you're on the move, an extra add-on for the saddle locker or a drawer in the show locker is an option for you. This way, you can also keep things organised when you're out and about.

Classic ceiling bracket

Our shop for equestrian supplies has a classic metal ceiling bar. The bar, which is available in green, blue and silver, can be easily mounted on the box or on the wall and has two integrated bridle hooks. The width of the ceiling holder is 70 cm. Our ceiling holder is sold in packs of 10.

Shelf for saddle and horse blankets

Our stepped metal rack for saddle and horse blankets is ideal for storing and drying all types of blankets. Thanks to the stepped and widely spaced struts of the rack, the drying process of the blankets is accelerated. The struts of the blanket rack are removable and individually height-adjustable. 

The shelf is available in three colours: blue, silver and green and is 200 cm high, 146 cm wide and 43 cm deep. Please note that the shelf for saddle and horse ceilings must be attached to the wall with screws to prevent the shelf from tipping forwards.

Top cupboard for horse rugs and saddle pads

If you do not require the blankets to hang freely using a blanket holder, you have the option of purchasing a top cabinet especially for saddle and horse blankets. This top cabinet fits our Economy, Prestige and Comfort saddle cabinets and is available in Mini, Midi and Maxi sizes. 

Please note, however, that all editions of our Alfako saddle cabinets (except the Mini and Midi Economy sizes) have an integrated drawer or extra shelf. These drawers or shelves are made exclusively for blankets and upholstery.
