When do you need a trolley for obstacle poles?

You need a trolley for obstacle poles if you want to transport several poles from one place to another. An obstacle pole trolley allows you to transport poles safely in order to set up an obstacle or entire course in the riding arena or indoor arena.

How big are trolleys for obstacle poles?

Trolleys for obstacle poles are 2000 mm wide and 4000 mm long as standard. Trolleys for obstacle poles without a standard size have a width of 120 to 125 cm and a length of between 155 and 250 cm. If the bar trolleys have integrated brackets, the trolley is usually around 150 to 180 cm high.

The tare weight of most bar trolleys is 80 to 400 kg, with a load capacity of 1000 to 1500 kg. Standard trolleys for obstacle poles have space for 40, 60, 80 or 120 poles. The more arms the obstacle pole trolley has, the larger the pole trolley and the more poles it can hold.

If the trolley is mainly used to transport a small number of obstacle poles, a small trolley with a capacity of 40 poles is sufficient. However, if you have around 120 obstacle poles that you want to store and transport on the pole trolley, you should purchase a larger trolley.

What types of bar trolleys are there?

There are different variants of trolleys for obstacle poles, such as a pole trolley with a roof, a pole trolley with a trailer coupling or a pole handle and a pole trolley with different axles.

Bar trolley with roof

Pole trolleys with a roof are useful if the trolley with the obstacle poles is stored outside directly at the riding arena or next to the hall. A roof protects the obstacle poles from rain, direct sunlight and snow, as wooden obstacle poles in particular warp and lose their colour when wet.

Bar trolley with trailer coupling or standard handle

A bar cart with trailer coupling is worthwhile if, for example, several carts are to be driven to the riding arena or into the hall at the same time. Bar trolleys with a trailer coupling are transported with a small towing vehicle. A trailer coupling on the pole trailer is useful if very long distances have to be travelled between the storage location and the riding arena.

Bar trolleys with a standard handle are moved by hand and are suitable when transport distances are short. Trolleys for obstacle poles with a standard handle offer greater flexibility and manoeuvrability, as manoeuvring in narrow aisles or paths by hand is easier. Towing a bar trolley with a standard handle takes longer than a bar trolley with a trailer coupling.

Bar trolleys with different axles

Bar trolleys are available with different axles, whereby customers can choose between a bar trolley with a trailing axle and a bar trolley with 1 to 2 steering axles. With a trolley for obstacle poles with a trailing axle, travelling with the pole trolley through large bends is improved and the trailing axle ensures a smooth, stable position of the load on the pole trolley.

With steering axles at the front or at both ends, the obstacle bar trolley is easier to manoeuvre through narrow aisles or bends. Compared to rigid axles, the turning circle of bar trolleys with steering axles is much smaller, making it easier to steer the trolley precisely when pulling and pushing.

What material are bar trolleys made of?

In most cases, bar trolleys are made of hot-dip galvanised steel. The hot-dip galvanisation protects the pole trolley from rust, even when used outdoors, in a damp environment or in contact with dirt and sand. Hot-dip galvanised steel is very durable and ensures a long service life for the pole trolley.

The steel frame of the pole trolley has very high stability and load-bearing capacity and can easily support even heavy obstacle poles. Hot-dip galvanised steel does not warp and ensures that the trolley for obstacle poles retains its shape even under heavy loads. A hot-dip galvanised steel trolley is easy to clean and requires little maintenance.
