Build your own saddle truck: Building instruction sack barrow | Alfako

A saddle trolley is a practical help in everyday stable life so that you don't have to carry each riding and horse accessory individually from the tack room to the grooming area. Here you can store and transport your saddle as well as your snaffle, your grooming kit and smaller riding equipment. 

We will show you below instructions on how to build your own saddle trolley with a sack truck. 

What do you need to be able to build a semi-trailer trailer yourself?

To be able to build a semi-trailer yourself, you need the following materials:

• Sack truck with folding shovel
• 1 wooden board 
• Cable tie
• Drilling machine
• 1-2 saddle holders (or bridle holders)
• 1-2 baskets (optional)
• Screws for fastening the saddle brackets and the baskets
  

Instructions: How to build a saddle trolley with a hand truck?

Step 1: Cut the wooden board

Cut the wooden board to the length and width of the hand truck and drill four holes. These should be placed on the left and right and on the top and bottom. Accuracy is not important here.

Step 2: Fasten the cable ties

Now place the board on the hand truck and thread the cable ties through the holes. Secure the wooden board to the hand truck with the cable ties.

Step 3: Screw down the saddle supports and baskets

Screw the saddle holders to the front of the wooden board so that there is enough space between them. Make sure that the saddles have enough space. Optionally, you can attach both a saddle holder and a bridle holder.

You can attach the optional baskets either at the front or at the back of the wooden board. Here you can later store horse accessories or other riding equipment.

Step 4: Load the saddle trolley

Finally, place your saddle or saddles on the saddle caddy and stow other riding equipment if desired.

Is there an alternative to the sack truck for the saddle trolley?

An alternative to the sack truck for the saddle trolley is to build your own saddle stand out of squared timber and attach rollers to it. For this you will need:

• 7 Square timbers
• 2 hinges
• 8 cm long screws
• Drilling machine
• Ruler and pencil
• Possibly saw
• Rollers

Cut the squared timbers to the desired lengths. Fasten them together with screws and hinges so that they form a folding trestle. If necessary, you can now attach castors underneath.
